This is a heavy week for celebrities.  Read about John Travolta.  It's been said that he is gay and thought Scientology would cure him of that.  That's why he went there.  He's still a Scientologist, but I bet he wishes he wasn't.  This comes from The Daily Beast and is published here for research purposes on celebrities.

"John Travolta’s Masseur Lawsuits Follow Rumors of a Double Life

Hollywood star John Travolta has been accused of sexual assault in lawsuits filed by two male masseurs. But questions about the actor’s sex life have circulated for years, reports Marlow Stern.

News of an incredibly graphic $2 million lawsuit by a “John Doe” masseur against John Travolta, which broke Monday, may have come as a surprise to some fans of the actor, who projects an image of a smiling heartthrob on-screen and an adoring family man off.
In the suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, an unnamed male masseur accuses the 58-year-old Pulp Fiction star of sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, saying Travolta came on to him several times during a massage session at the Beverly Hills Hotel in January. And on Tuesday, a second “John Doe” masseur, represented by the same attorney, filed another $2 million sexual-assault suit against Travolta, claiming “substantial documentation and numerous witnesses regarding the substance of Travolta’s actions.” Travolta’s lawyer has denied both men’s accusations, saying of the new suit, “This second ‘anonymous’ claim is just as absurd and ridiculous as the first one.”
For anyone who’s been following Travolta’s life off-screen, however, rumors of a sexual preference for men have persisted for years.
On May 8, 1990, The National Enquirer ran a cover story describing an alleged affair between Travolta and Paul Barresi, a gay-porn star. According to Barresi, the two met in 1982, after the actor allegedly followed him into the shower room of a Los Angeles health club, and the relationship lasted for two years. Barresi reportedly received $100,000 from the Enquirer for his Travolta story, but retracted it several months later under what he later alleged was legal pressure from Travolta’s attorneys. While Barresi is not the most credible of witnesses, having inserted himself into several high-profile celebrity scandals over the years, he did snag a speaking role in the 1985 Travolta film Perfect.

Travolta married actress Kelly Preston in 1991. The wedding came just a year after Barresi’s claims against Travolta, as well as the news that Preston had broken off her engagement to Charlie Sheen when he accidentally shot her in the arm. Despite Travolta’s newlywed status—and the birth of their first son, Jett, in 1992—the spa allegations persisted in the tabloids. According to a story published by Yahoo! News, Travolta was banned from a Los Angeles country club and a major hotel chain in the early ’90s over his alleged penchant for hitting on men in shower rooms.
Since 1975, Travolta has been a practitioner of Scientology. In 1950, Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard published a book called Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, which classified homosexuals as “the sexual pervert.” The following year, Hubbard’s 1951 Handbook for Preclears delivers instructions to Dianeticists on how to “cure” homosexuality by breaking the subject’s mental fixation on a dominant parent of the opposite sex. In a New Yorker profile of director and former Scientologist Paul Haggis published last year, Haggis spoke about his decision to leave the church after 35 years, blaming its support of Prop 8 in California, as well as the heckling his gay daughter received by fellow members.
Said Carrie Fisher in 2010: “My feeling about John has always been that we know and we don’t care. Look, I’m sorry that he’s uncomfortable with it, and that’s all I can say.”
In 1998 a Beverly Hills artist named Michael Pattinson filed a 166-page complaint against Travolta and the Church of Scientology, alleging the actor helped the church deceive him into thinking it could turn him straight. Pattinson alleged that he “reasonably relied upon” Travolta’s marriage to Preston as evidence that “Scientology processing and courses would ‘handle’ my own homosexuality,” the New York Daily News reported.
The rumors surrounding Travolta seemed to die down around the time his and Preston’s daughter, Ella Bleu, was born in 2000. Then, in 2006, The National Enquirer published a picture of Travolta embracing and kissing a man on the mouth as the two descended the steps of his private jet. The man was later identified as Jeff Kathrein, one of the Travolta family’s two nannies who, in 2009, would be the one to discover the body of Travolta’s son, Jett, after he died from a seizure.
Actress Carrie Fisher, who doesn’t pull too many punches, said of Travolta in a 2010 interview with The Advocate: “I mean, my feeling about John has always been that we know and we don’t care. Look, I’m sorry that he’s uncomfortable with it, and that’s all I can say. It only draws more attention to it when you make that kind of legal fuss. Just leave it be.”'

The spread of bad behaviour in the theatre (& a theatre that fails to police it)

I’m not often driven to rage in the theatre, but at Friday’s opening of Robert Wilson’s production of Philip Glass’s Einstein on the Beach at the Barbican Theatre I found my patience sorely tested, and I not only reached breaking point, I actually snapped.
The amazing show — part art installation, part minimalist musical meditation, part dance spectacle — is an endurance test to begin with, not least on the bladder, even though a technical breakdown at a clearly shockingly under-prepared Barbican meant an unscheduled break afforded a pee break in the five hour show that is meant to run continuously without an interval.
But at Friday’s performance, there were further trials brought about by the behaviour of the audience, and in particular, one person in the middle of the same row as me, who persistently took flash photographs throughout the performance. It was as blatant and unashamed as could be; she held up the camera and simply flashed away.
At the end of the show, I asked the usher (who had been stationed at the end of my row throughout the performance but had utterly failed to police it) to summons the house manager, so I could point out the offender; but no one materialised. So I confronted the offender myself, going into full Patti LuPone ‘who do you think you are?’ mode as I did so — and receiving a few cheers as the exiting audience babble died down enough for my declaration ‘You stupid woman’ to be heard by everyone around me.
It was only as I was exiting the theatre myself that someone told me exactly who the person thought she was: Bianca Jagger. Who, I was also told, had already been asked to stop by those around her. But clearly she was above it all.
I eventually found the Barbican’s venue manager Fred McDonald, who at first denied being responsible for the house management (though if he wasn’t responsible, who was?), and then insisted that he did know about the problem already — and that she had been spoken to during the earlier break, but he couldn’t be everywhere. However, an usher was in the house and in the same row throughout the performance — but hadn’t acted, either. As it is, too, it shouldn’t have been up to me to remonstrate with her — that’s his job, not mine.
Once I got home, I took to Twitter to express my frustration, and found a lot of support from people who had been similarly affected, some of whom reported also speaking up. But I also caught short by being accused of something even more disturbing: someone who found that those protesting the problem had, in his opinion, caused more disruption that the disruption itself.
“Sorry but those shouting at others to stop taking photos - ie, YOU - were making more of a disruption than the photographers,” someone called Igor Toronyi-Lalic tweeted, whose twitter profile says he’s a music/arts writer for The Times, Telegraph and theartsdesk.com. And he went on to say, “Much more offensive than flash photography are the loud mouth arseholes who shout out ‘STOP TAKING PHOTOS’.”
Actually, that wasn’t me — I didn’t shout anything till afterwards. But never mind: when I in turn posted that I was “amazed that a so-called arts journalist “@igortoronyi is suggesting that trying to prevent photography was more disruptive than offender,” he replied, “Yeah I am! Mouthy complainers disrupted my Minimalism mini-fest in same way. What’s your beef with flash photography?” And then, for good measure, added, “You can’t ALL be epileptic.”
Leaving aside the casual slur on epilepsy, I became genuinely curious how he could maintain that photography is not disruptive, and asked him by twitter direct message. This is not on a public timeline, so I can’t link to his replies, but here’s how the conversation went:

@shentonstage: Do I have to explain why flash photography RUINS the perf for those around you? Really??
@igortoronyi: Yeah I’m sorry you totally do. It’s NEVER bothered me.
@shentonstage: OK, if you don’t get that its disruptive, I can’t get that it’s NOT! As a matter of interest, how do you feel about people texting/surfing web during theatre? Presumably you don’t find that disruptive either?
@igortoronyi: I have a problem with excess. But a few photos, a few tweets. Who cares?
I have subsequently checked his twitter timeline, and it turns out that he actually live tweeted during the show after its breakdown, reporting,”Shambles here at the Barbican. Show’s restarted without half audience.”
It’s a pity that the half that remained, though, included Bianca Jagger. And in her own public tweet timeline, she insisted in a reply to someone who complained about her behaviour, “You are making allegations without proof, many around me where taking pic. It’s not a crime 2 take pic during curtain call.” Which isn’t, in fact, what she was doing: I had seen her taking pictures regularly throughout the show with my own eyes!
And then she played the victim, a classic defence move, replying in turn: “Do u approve of the abusive behaviour of the man who pushed me around & insulted me at the theatre last night? Without proof.” For the record, I did not touch her. At all. I will, however, freely admit to deliberately insulting her. I’m glad she so obviously heard it.
I have also written to the Barbican’s managing director Nicholas Kenyon, director of programming Louise Jeffreys and head of theatre Toni Racklin regarding what happened. Jeffreys has already responded to promise a full investigation into the front-of-house issues. I await it with interest.
As for the technical problems, it seems like they were fixed by the second performance. How do I know? Igor Toronyi-Lalic went back for more — and tweeted on Saturday night, “Well they sure turned it around. Night two of @EinsteinBeach and all major glitches have been erased. A fantastic performance.” And no Bianca Jagger taking photographs either, presumably. Not that he would have noticed if there was…. unless someone disrupted his own “minimalism mini-fest” by daring to complain about it.

Marilyn Monroe - last interview.  Mentions Robert Kennedy as a smiling man.  She met him once or twice, she says.  Bobby tried to help her deal with her studio, saw her psychiatrist and fix other problems, hoping she'd keep quiet about her affair with the President.

Robert F. Slatzer was a disinformationalist.  He was a fan who followed her around the studio.  Apparently, she began to ignore him.  But the stuff he said about Bobby was false.  I believe she was murdered -- to get Bobby Kennedy in deep trouble.   Fred Otash, private eye, and Peter Lawford removed anything in her house about the Kennedys.  She was dead -- and it was Kennedy's problem now.  (Sounds like Chapaquiddick.)

This is Caravalli's collection.  Bianca Jagger can be seen near the end.  She has a new short hairdo, but one which can grow out in the style she usually wears.  She looks very good and rested.

Another beauty I want to write about here is Natalie Wood.  Tomorrow, Nov. 29, is the 30th anniversary of her death by... misadventure?  Actually, I believe she was murdered.  There was a huge fight between Natalie and her husband Robert Wagner.  Davern, the skipper on their yacht, said he never saw them fight like this.  They were in their bedroom and it sounded like they were throwing things around.  Everyone on the yacht was drunk.  Natalie had been drinking the whole day.  She also had Darvon, a pain narcotic, in her system.  Robert Wagner was plasterred.  Next, the skipper saw "R.J," and Natalie outside on the deck.  Next, he saw Natalie with her coat on.  Then, Wagner came inside and Natalie wasn't out there anymore.  Wagner said to the skipper, "I've been trying to find Natalie for a half hour.  She must have taken the dinghy and gone ashore.

This was ludicrous.  Natalie couldn't swim and feared the water.  Also the Dinghy was tied to the external wall  of the yacht.  Someone, 5'1 and weighing 90 lbs, would have a struggle to get it down, especially when drunk and angry.  The skipper suggested they turn on a large exterior light and look for her, but Wagner said no.  The skipper suggested, "We have to call for help."  RJ said no.  It wouldn't look good for his image.  And besides she'll learn a lesson."  The 2 men kept drinking.  Around 5 am, Wagner called for help and when the first help got there Wagner said, "We didn't call for help earlier because she was probably on another boat fooling around.  That's the type of girl she is."

Natalie Wood was found floating near shore in her red down coat, dead from hypothermia and drowning.  The dinghy was close by.  The ignition was turned to off.  She never made it into the dinghy.  The coat was allowing her to float, but it was preventing her from getting into the dinghy.  The authorities found fingernail impressions from Natalie holding onto the dinghy for dear life.

Robert Wagner was never charged.  The skipper relied on Wagner for his keep.  The full story didn't come out then.  But it's coming out in a new investigation.  The authorities have reopened the case.  They say Wagner isn't a suspect.  Wagner already has his lawyers.

After that experience, I would never touch another sip of alcohol for the rest of my life.  But Wagner went on drinking.  Let's see what happens.  RJ is 81 now.  He's had 30 years to think about that night.  He's felt safe.  I hope the courts do the right thing.

This is the 48th Anniversary of the death of Karyn Kupcinet.  She was an actress in Hollywood the last 3 years of her life.  Her death has never been solved.  She laid dead on the sofa in her apartment where she just moved for 3 days.  It is a long story and this is just part of it.  She started acting on stage in Chicago when she was 13.  She studied for a time with Lee Strasberg at his Actor's Studio.

This girl had no luck whatsoever.  She was short and was big boned like her father.  She had her father's facial features.  His name was Irv Kupcinet.  He was the most well-liked man in Chicago.  Everyone knew Kup.  He worked as a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and hosted his own late night talk show once a week, until talk ran out.  Later he would make his show 90 minutes and towards the end it went 1 hour long.  Sometimes I was able to get the show on TV in NJ.  I didn't know about the tragedy then.  When Karyn died 1500 mourners went to the funeral.  Irv had a lot of pull.  But it did not help his daughter.

Karyn was 22 years old when she passed.  She was found nude on her sofa.  As time has passed, there's a general notion that she may have committed suicide.  But they say women who commit suicide are not found in the nude.  A bathrobe laid on another chair.

She was discovered on Nov. 30, 1963 by her actor friend, Mark Goddard, who later rose to fame on Lost in Space.  Lost in space would make a great description of Karyn's life, especially her last year.  Karyn's mother had Karyn memorizing lines before she could read, the story goes.  Essee Kupcinet gave Karyn her first diet pills.  Essee would get mad if Karyn put on weight, according to their housekeeper, who'd been with them for decades.  But Karyn couldn't help it; she was big-boned to begin with.  It became an obsession to her.  Everyday she would start in he diary/address book what she weighed that morning.  When she spoke to reporters she'd tell them her diet woes.  Big-boned people always look thicker and for them to lose weight or keep weight off is an unhealthy thing to do.  She wanted people to see how thin she was, and for that in her last year she was taking methamphetamine, a drug called Desoxyn.  When the police showed up, they found pill bottles in her medicine chest.  One she had refilled 2 days before her death, on the National Day of Mourning for President Kennedy.  The bottle said it contained 100 pills.  It was empty.  Where did they go?

The apartment looked ransacked, but nothing was missing  --- except for the 100 pills.  Her furs were there, her jewelry.  She was buried in the white gown she'd worn as a Hollywood Debutante.

The coroner concluded she was strangled because her hyoid bone was fractured.  But the coroner, named Kade, was often drunk (though his son denies it).  He was fired when 2 women were exhumed to see what they'd died from.  Neither woman had been strangled.  He had a fetish for strangled women.  The case went to court.  He had joked once that "At least I didn't break the hyoid bone on that one."  Whose hyoid bone was he speaking of?  This had to have gotten back to Irv Kupcinet.  You could not go near him, though and say maybe she committted suicide.  This would put him in a homicidal rage.

Obviously, this is a case I've followed for 32 years.  There is much more to this story and when I have time I'll share it.
